Authenticity
What is Authenticity? Today I went to SIB KL for COUZ nite and this was the topic. Authenticity means to be genuine. Be real and true to yourself.
Now It doesn't mean that you should tell your partner or friends "THIS IS ME ACCEPT ME FOR WHO I AM" that is like telling people accept my shit if not leave. Not this yeah. Means accept who you really are and don't fake it. Instead fix those bad habits and be genuine. Nobody is perfect but am sure those you call friends will be there for you no matter how bad your habit is.
This relates to my thinking of Integrity. To me Integrity is like be really honest on who you are and do what is right. Guess it is not easy yeah. I for sure admit that being authentic in everything is difficult.
ps: someone said got secret to tell me am waiting patiently

Monash Having prep for Music Festival which is this weekend I think haha 12 am to 12 pm
Dayi and Nicholas
Jason and Me (orh ya new pipettes should come soon so call I heard a new tech which is like a handshake type)
We were counting how many mosquito larvae present (yes it is farnee counting 40 mosquito larvae in one cup, mind you only put that cup out for 5 days). Apparently so far we discovered that Black and Red Cups only have mosquito larvae (First replicate Red more than Black, 2nd replicate Black more than Red). So as of the present our hypothesis mosquito can see wavelengths of black and red. Red probably cause colour of blood?
Many ask how does your lab look like or rather how does a lab look like. Here goes some photos below. Anyways this is a Physiology and Pharmacology lab. So the equipment u see is for those. Other labs would have different kinds of gadgets XD

Today, this got me really thinking. Went to Ikano F.C. MEATBALL and played a game of catan. For the case of adventure, I decided to do something I would never do (I bid less numbers such as a double 10 and a double 11). To my surprise I kept getting cards from the dice throw. It came to a part whereby I got 9 points (10 means win) and it was my turn (RUSH FTW).
So there was me seeing myself confident in winning and all I needed was any card besides wood. Darrel shows me his one and only card a Clay which if i took it I would win. BUTTT!!! I didn't want to win that way (my silly thinking) so I decided to take risk/chance --> end up I lost the game.
Man I do feel stupid though I deny it but the fact is I don't think I'd feel happy winning in such a manner. "You're an idiot if you didn't take the win" says some. Still feels winning isn't everything.
Sometimes in life a small choice affects everything and we can only move forward. I tend to always think WHAT IF. I guess i'm just thinking too much. There goes the theory whats the difference between First and Second best. "If someone is just a little better than you he is better than you" says Rico Tan a phrase I remember when I was working at JTM.
Quote www.thepippo.com "Life is like a game of dice. 6 possibilities, everybody on earth has an equal chance. Breaking down the math, yes, there are various variables and environmental factors. Whatever your roll was, there are about a billion people just like you. Its what you do with your life and the ways you impacted this world that will be remembered by history." = Just the right choice at the right time makes a whole lot of difference & we only have one chance to do it (I guess different people would have different odds).
Bottom line after some thinking, I need to change this habitual thinking - seems like when things are too easy I tend to think twice of taking it and when it is too hard to get I think twice also whether to fight for it. Question is if it were not to be a game and the choice is between doing a right or wrong would I still pick to lose because it is right? What Would You Do?

Memory
Something worth the read for those who don't know this.
"Poor memory is often a result of poor self-image. After all, it all starts and ends in the mind. So to have a healthy mind, believe that you can achieve anything you desire. Boost your self-esteem and be confident in your abilities. Your attitude should be supportive of your goals."
My bottom line for this - Have a Great Attitude as it determines your Altitude
"Cardiovascular exercises like walking improves blood circulation and are good for the heart and brain. Research also indicates that walking helps release hormones that aid in regenerating new brain cells. If you’re bored with just plain walking, engage into sports that you love. Play basketball, volleyball, tennis, or anything that excites you. By exercising, you can lessen your chances of developing high blood pressure which contributes to memory loss when you get older. So get up and get moving."
My bottom line for this - Exercise more
"Just like any muscle, you also need to exercise your brain so that it doesn’t deteriorate. Engage in games that will help you think. Talk to people, read informational books, listen to educational tapes, and make it a habit to continuously learn and experience new things. Remember that when your neurons die, they don’t come back to life anymore. So you better use them, or you’ll lose them."
My bottom line for this - Think more
"Before you go out of your house in the morning, it would be great if you can give your brain the fuel it needs by eating a hearty breakfast. A salad packed full of antioxidants, including beta-carotene and vitamins C and E, should also help keep your brain in tip-top condition by helping to reduce damaging free radicals. As you grow older, your brain has lesser capacity to defend itself from daily threats like free radicals, inflammation, and oxidation.Studies show that fatty food that causes artheosclerosis (clogging of arteries) are also the same type of food that disrupts neural activities. Cut back on the fat and replace it with foods rich in anti-oxidants."
My bottom line for this - Have a nutritious breakfast as U are what you eat (lots of A C E)

Psychology of Thought
Today was a really interesting day. I joined a psychology class (not taking the module). Got into a group of 4 which includes me (the rest all girls). Why am I not surprised, I presented the debate and also think out the ideas. But the thing is what I learn was a relapse cause I took this sub 1 year ago.
There were many questions like for example "A drunk driver runs down and kills your three year old son. When the case comes to trial, the presiding judge takes into account the fact that it is a first offense and with remissions the man will be out of jail in three months. What would you do?"
I answered that I would appeal for higher penalty because it is just not fair 3 months isn't a justifiable punishment even though it is his first time. He would do it again. Then comes the debate if you didn't get approval for higher penalty what would you do? All eyes were on me. I said forgive and forget. Some say go revenge haha.
Well each of the questions that were asked can be always debatable. No right or wrong. Actually all things are debatable. For example someone is driving crazily on the road, some might curse that person but what if actually he was rushing to the hospital for an emergency. Would you react the same way? It all boils down to each person's reasoning.
Bottom line
- Why didn't I study PSYCHOLOGY for my degree. So much more interesting and would ace it definitely.
-Don't prejudge or assume people's actions. Try to think in their shoes and understand before acting.
Was reading a friends blog and felt exactly the same way. I can say my life is filled with failures too. Many belief it takes lots of failures before you reach success. Even Steve Jobs and Einstein had to go through endless failures to become what they are today.
Life is really unexplainable. You could be a top student today and you could flunk tomorrow. It could be related to environment, people you mix with and experience. What makes me feel sad is that I didn't always put in my 100% effort or used my full potential. I feel personally that people always put high hopes on me and I end up disappointing them (feels guilty always for this).
I guess everyone deserves a second chance. I believe in finishing strong in life. Average life expectancy of a person in the world today is 70. What I believe is that you can never bring any materials back to the grave. Life might end here today (many say 2012) for all you know. What is most important is how you live it. I would definitely like to touch the world and make a huge difference.
Though having a big car and materialistic things can't be taken to the grave why not aim high. The saying goes aim for the skies and if you don't reach you''ll hit the stars, it you won't be that far away either from the sky (prolly higher than lots). I remember writing in a book and filling in the book with dreams I want to achieve. Keep dreaming cause you got nothing to lose and it is scientifically proven that those that hardly dream have lower chance of getting what they want. Define SUCCESS....
Now of days Negativity is so common. When I was working at a sales management company (No 1 face to face marketing in South East Asia) a single thought of negative or talking negative is punishable. It is called spreading negative. It became norm to not talk negative and always only talk positive but in normal environments negative thinking is ALWAYS there. What is more funny, people actually know without the negativity, everything is more productive (encourage, compliment) and great ideas appear from it. Therefore why can't we all be positive thinkers.
Bottom-line what I'm trying to say 1) I won't give up neither should you, 2) Success is not everything but it isn't wrong to aim HIGH, 3) try to think positive above all else even though it is hard, 4) admit we are wrong when we are wrong

Once there were 3 trees on a hill in the woods.
They were discussing their hopes and dreams when the first tree said,
"Someday I hope to be a treasure chest.
I could be filled with gold, silver and precious gems.
I could be decorated with intricate carving and everyone would see the beauty."
Then the second tree said,
"Someday I will be a mighty ship.
I will take kings and queens across the waters and sail to the corners of the world. Everyone will feel safe in me because of the strength of my hull."
Finally the third tree said,
"I want to grow to be the tallest and straightest tree in the forest.
People will see me on top of the hill and look up to my branches, and think of the heavens and God and how close to them I am reaching.
I will be the greatest tree of all time and people will always remember me."
After a few years of praying that their dreams would come true, a group of woodsmen came upon the trees. When one came to the first tree he said,
"This looks like a strong tree, I think I should be able to sell the wood to a carpenter"..and he began cutting it down.
The tree was happy, because he knew that the carpenter would make him into a treasure chest.
At the second tree a woodsman said,
"This looks like a strong tree, I should be able to sell it to the shipyard."
The second tree was happy because he knew he was on his way to becoming a mighty ship.
When the woodsmen came upon the third tree, the tree was frightened because he knew hat if they cut him down his dreams would not come true. One of the woodsmen said, "I don't need anything special from my tree so I'll take this one," and he cut it down.
When the first tree arrived at the carpenters, he was made into a feed box for animals. He was then placed in a barn and filled with hay. This was not at all what he had prayed for.
The second tree was cut and made into a small fishing boat. His dreams of being a mighty ship and carrying kings had come to an end.
The third tree was cut into large pieces and left alone in the dark.
The years went by, and the trees forgot about their dreams.
Then one day, a man and woman came to the barn. She gave birth and they placed the baby in the hay in the feed box that was made from the first tree. The man wished that he could have made a crib for the baby, but this manger would have to do. The tree could feel the importance of this event and knew that it had held the greatest treasure of all time.
Years later, a group of men got in the fishing boat made from the second tree. One of them was tired and went to sleep. While they were out on the water, a great storm arose and the tree didn't think it was strong enough to keep the men safe. The men woke the sleeping man, and he stood and said, "Peace" and the storm stopped. At this time, the tree knew that it had carried the King of Kings in its boat.
Finally, someone came and got the third tree. It was carried through the streets as the people mocked the man who was carrying it. When they came to a stop, the man was nailed to the tree and raised in the air to die at the top of a hill. When Sunday came, the tree came to realize that it was strong enough to stand at the top of the hill and be as close to God as was possible, because Jesus had been crucified on it.
Well, my dear friends, the moral of the story is whenever things don't seem to be going your way, always know that God has a plan for you. If you place your trust in Him, He will give you great gifts. Each of the trees got what they wanted, just NOT in the way they had imagined. We don't always know what God's plans are for us. We just know that His ways are not our ways, BUT His ways are always the best!! =)
Took it from a email and Joanna.
Sure reminds me of how lost we can be and later to find out we were not lost it was a process.
Quote of the day for me today: "Use your talents that God has given to you because you will be accountable to God for not making use of it." Sure sounds scary.

Some may ask what is Good Friday? What does it mean to Christians?
Good Friday is a day to remember this (the pain he has went through to pay for our sins to set us free from damnation).
It is just so hard to explain how much pain and suffering Jesus had to go through. It just saddens me on how much emotional stress and suffering he had till he bled thru his skin.
How much stress can any human take these days. A little and we complain but he went through more stress than anyone had from physical to emotional. Scientist today call it hematidrosis or hemihidrosis, where the veins and skin become tender from anguish that they break, mixing the blood with sweat.
Then comes the next torture. Romans call it the scourging process. He was flagged. Romans were know for their excellence in torture they even know what is the maximum no of time a person can be flagged to make sure the victim suffers maximum pain and not die. The flagrum is a intrument that was used which is a short whip with small balls of lead tied near the ends of each thong. The succeeding blows cut deeper into the subcutaneous tissues producing first an oozing of blood from the capillaries and veins of the skin and finally, spurting arterial bleeding from vessels in the underlying muscles. The whip tears into the deep skeletal muscles to produce ribbons of bleeding flesh.
Then a crown of thorns is smashed into his skull with a wooden staff. He was humiliated, mocked, spit at and cursed at. In times like this, just a minor humiliation and we would let all hell lose just to maintain our pride and dignity.
After losing so much blood and energy, can you imagine carrying a crossbar weighing 34 to 57 kg in weight and is put across the shoulders tied together to your hands.
After that comes Cruxification. Iron spikes or you can call it nails measuring 5 to 7 inches are driven through Jesus' wrists & legs. Because the hand is full of sensory nerves, any stimulation would cause agonizing shots of pain in both arms, and maybe throughout the body. Again Romans are experts in torture again like I said, they actually made sure they do not break any veins while doing this so that the victim will not die quick due to lack of blood.
How the cross works is the hindrance to normal breathing because the body pulls down on the outstretched arms and shoulders. After being in this position for quite a while, exhalation becomes shallow and labored. Imagine having asthma and the ventolin inhaler doesn't work. Everytime you want to breathe you have to carry your whole body. After hours of pain and lack of oxygen he died. Normal cruxification of a person would last about 3 or 4 days before dying (his was 3 to 4 hours due to excessive torture).
The Roman soldiers were trained to hasten death by either breaking the legs of the victim below the knee or stabbing the chest with a lance. Though the legs of the two thieves crucified along with Jesus were broken, his wasn't. A soldier pierced Jesus' side with his lance. to make sure he died. Blood and water came forth from the wound.
Just my thoughts of what I've learn from years of being a Christian. Thanks for the amazing grace you gave me and to die on the cross for me. Here is a thought to think about, would you have died for someone one you do not know today? Would you give the son you only have as a sacrifice?

You stole the kiss and stole the heart
Made me a fool right from the start
It wouldn't have been so bad except
This little plan, it fell hard
If I were you
I'd dare not speak
I'll run like hell
In hopes of seeing tomorow
It is such a travesty
The way you said our love should be
Yeah, such a tragedy
Think you can break my heart and leave me
Well you better run
Man on the run
Playing for fun
Wind me up leave me undone
It's such a travesty
The way you said our love should be
Yeah, such a tragedy
Think you can just break my heart and leave me
Well you better run
Oh, man on the run
Playing for fun
Wind me up
Leave me undone
These lips are sealed, I'll never speak
Your name a loving memory
so don't you try to make amends
That's what you get for playing mean
If I were you
I'd dare not speak
I'll run like hell
In hopes of seeing tomorrow
Break my heart and leave me
Man on the run
It's such a travesty
The way you said our love should be
Yeah, such a tragedy

Just love this trance song. Been listening to this recently. Listened to it many times and tried to follow the lyrics and write in word today. The funny part is I don't know the name of the song. But then managed to find it later on the net. Kudos for me and sigh the lyrics is there too =p
Name of the song is Dash Berlin featuring Cerf, Mitiska and Jaren - Man on the Run
