On Thanksgiving Day

Woke up early and went to Pasar Besar Tmn Tun (Tmn Tun Big Market) for an errand. Long time since I went to the market. Remembered those times when I had to go there every weekend to buy a weeks ration. Now I have my maid to buy them LoL. Although the market wasn't as busy as on weekends, there are still quite a number of people at the market doing their shopping things (probably did not have time to go to the market during weekends in preparation for New Years Day). Surprisingly most of the stalls were open on eve. Things in the market are supposed to be cheap but actually there are stalls that are not cheap. So remember to check the price properly before buying anything (don't assume it is cheap before checking other stalls).

Have you seen such big orange as big as my palm?

This Soya bean stall rocks and is still surviving till today

After finishing my errands, I went for BREAKFAST at Devis Corner. This stall is like your average "mamak" stall but the difference that makes this "mamak" better than most, is that it has superb customer service, it is very hygienic (provides good atmosphere) and the food there is up to standards. If you are wondering what is mamak stall, in Malaysia, the word mamak actually refers to Indian Muslims, who generally own or operate them. Mamak stalls are popular spots among the Malaysian youths as hang out spots, due to cheap food and beverages being served as well as being open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Besides that, it has big LCD screens which are favorite spots for people to watch football and hangout together with their friends.

Had lunch at home and went out with my dad to CIMB bank to redeem the gift points from CIMB bank.

Normally on New Year's Eve my family and I will spend some family time together watching fireworks display at specific places in KL or The Curve. This year we decided to go to church for Thanksgiving day. I can't remember the last time I went to church on New Year's Eve. If not mistaken it was 4 years ago =p Thanksgiving day at church was awesome. I managed to meet my cell group members and wish them Happy New Year. Each performance was done by other language services for example the Tamil service, Chinese service and many more.

Bro Ang Chui Lai gave a good sermon. He talked about 5 ideals that we Christians should remember to practice which are 1) Humility/Humble 2) Gentleness with one another 3) Walk in Wisdom 4) Peace with things 5) Long suffering in love and patient. Be humble, be gentle to things around even though things can be rough, remember to walk in wisdom and find peace even though things isn't going your way. Let not your heart be troubled. Lastly, remember to love regardless of how difficult or suffering it may be and be patient.

Finally I would like to wish everybody a BLESSED NEW YEAR !!

"Bak kut teh" for lunch & a walk in the night market

Today I went out for lunch in Kelana Jaya 4. Had "Bak kut teh". Basically Bak kut teh is a famous soup which is popularly served in Malaysia and in Singapore. If translated directly it means "pork bone tea". At its consists of meaty pork ribs in a complex broth of herbs and spices which are boiled together with pork bones for hours. If you are a Malaysian you would know that it is widely believed Klang is the home of Bak kut teh. The dish was found to originate from Port Klang for port coolies. It is believed that taking Bak kut teh was a good supplement to their meager diet as a tonic to boost their health. As for Muslims in Malaysia Bak kut teh is made with chicken instead of pork which is called "Chi ku teh".

Just some photos of the shop and newspaper articles showing how good their shop is for "Bak kut teh"

In the evening I went to the night market in Tmn. Tun with my dad. Normally on Sundays we go to the night market or "pasar malam" to buy fruits. I drove there with my dad as usual but this time parking was hard to find because we came to the market late than usual. We had to park in the car park and pay RM2 =.=

Anyway the market was busy and really buzzing with variety of stalls . You can get almost any kind of fruit ranging from pineapples, bananas, apples, pears to grapes. You can also find bags, wallets and gadgets in the market. Not only that, the special thing about this market in Tmn. Tun is that it has a row of food and drinks stalls selling like example kebab, chicken noodle, assam laksa, soya bean and chrysanthemum tea. If you missed your weekly marketing you can also grab some fish, meat and vegetables.

If you are thinking of going out in the evening for a date or just want to spend some time walking and taking some snacks this ain't a bad place. There is plenty to see and plenty to eat. What more can I say =p

So colourful !!

Time flies and it is nearing end of the year

Woke up and had my breakfast. Went out to accompany my parents and my sister to eat another breakfast in ss2 =) (Lorong Seratus Tahun). Curry mee is famous here. The stall originated from Penang which is pretty famous back there. After that went back to my secondary school with my sis to get her books for the up coming year of school.
This is the sad thing. I found out that the wall which I did mural painting on was replaced with a ugly world map. How sad =(

After that went home ^^ and chilled on my computer as usual =p and not so long later ringgggg it is lunch time =p Went to 1 Utama (shopping complex) and tried Pasta Zanmai.

As usual tasty octopus delicacy of Japanese restaurants

Yum !!

More yum!! One of their house specialties seafood noodles

And Yum again another house specialty

And look what I got the waitress recommended me
=( Noodles with squid ink, look what it made me look like

Black lips and black teeth. Want a kiss?!

I did not eat this haha. Bought it from a passerby while eating. The passerby was dumb (cannot speak). Well my usual self I always just offer up money and not take any of their handmade products but they keep insisting and my parents said that they want to show they are not beggars. I chose the spider because I thought of my "Toutai" (apprentice) Jian-wern (He likes insects).

After lunch we decided to take a walk and find that there was an event going on as usual in 1 Utama =.= A lot of the youngsters (aged 4-9) were performing in the talent show.

Last service for 2007 T_T. Judah spoke pretty much on New Year resolution and whether it has been a good year or bad year. He said even if it has been a bad year for you don't hold it but instead look at it as something that helped you grow because it is with difficult situations or challenges that we learn and become a better/stronger person. The challenges that you have been given is probably a step for you to prepare for a better year ahead. So look forward to a better New Year with better things to achieve and better goals =)
